Additional supplements I'm taking while pregnant

In addition to taking the prenatal vitamins that I recommended in my previous blog post, here are some additional supplements that I am taking along with why I believe they are important at this particular time.
DHA is a very important fatty acid that I am taking to ensure the baby and myself are sufficient in for our brain health. Even if I didn't supplement with DHA right now, the baby would probably get adequate amounts from my stores, however, I may end up deficient. So, that is why I am supplementing with it now. You can also eat foods rich in Omega 3s so that your body can produce it itself. Initially that is all I planned to do, but my diet has been all over the place depending on what I'm in the mood for each day that I decided it would be a good idea to get a vegan DHA (I use Life Extension's) just in case.
The omega-3 fatty acid DHA accounts for 40% of the polyunsaturated fats in the brain! Studies have proven that DHA is required for the production of essential neuroprotection to support healthy cell signaling. & DHA is also a major structural fat in the retina of the eye, accounting for up to 60% of the total polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). So, it’s no wonder that some individuals wish to boost their DHA levels for cognitive and retinal health
DHA for ischemic stroke: HA and EPA are important FAs for distinguishing NCAS and ICAS in strokes. Additionally, the risk of ICAS was inversely associated with the levels of phospholipid DHA, which indicates that sufficient amounts of DHA in plasma or in diet may reduce the risk of ICAS.

"But why take a vegetarian source? I have heard that plant DHA is inferior ... ?" Well, DHA is easily converted in the body from ALA and EPA contrary to popular belief and what they tell us. Here is a study done using chia seeds that proves it.
They tell us raw vegans are not able to convert it well. Wrong again. Here are the blood test levels. From a 10 year raw vegan, low fat raw vegan, long term raw vegan and long term high fat raw vegan.
As you can see the raw vegans were all above the high standard for optimal omega fatty acids.

Colloidal Silver

While pregnant, the mothers immune system is compromised, which means it is much easier to get colds that are going around. I haven't had a cold in 11 years, but found myself fighting them off recently while pregnant as I was around many people that were sick. What did I do to help fight it off? I used colloidal silver sublingually every day several times a day. In addition, I kept thieves oil on hand to use in my diffuser to help kill bacteria in the air.

MSM is another supplement that I take regularly because it is a great methylator (detoxifier), which is very important during pregnancy. In an older study it was shown that 268 toxins were shared with the baby through the umbilical cord and that number has grown as technology and our testing abilities have improved. So, you can see why it is important to detoxify the body in a gentle and natural way while pregant to protect the baby from all of the toxins that are constantly bombarding our bodies. MSM is also great for improving the elasticity of the skin, which is very helpful while that pregnant belly is growing and should help to prevent stretch marks. If you cook your food, keep in mind that MSM is the first thing to go, even before enzymes. So, supplementing with MSM is very important as you may be deficient in it depending on your diet.
I was especially excited to find that there is a credible connection between MSM and hair growth. One study looked at the effect of Methylsulfonylmethane on hair growth. The researchers combined MAP (a form of vitamin C) at 7.5% and MSM at 10% and concluded that results were “comparable to or better than the result in the group treated with minoxidil 5%”.
Sulfur is also antibacterial and antifungal.
Another great supplement to take to improve your skins elasticity during this time is biosil. In fact, I would recommend taking this regularly as part of your beauty regime.
BioSil is clinically proven to:
  • Reduce fine line and wrinkles by 30.0%*
  • Increase skin elasticity by 89.0%*
  • Strengthen hair by 13.1%§
  • Thicken hair by 12.8%§
  • Dramatically strengthen nails (see VAS Scores in “Clinical Trials”)*
* After 20 weeks versus the placebo group.
§ After 36 weeks versus the placebo group.

Activated Charcoal
As I mentioned above, it is important to cleanse and detoxify the body in a gentle and natural way while pregnant. Another important thing you can take to help with this is activated charcoal. Before being pregnant I concentrated on eating one meal a day, which allows the body to go into autophagy and cleanse the cells of old stuff we don't need. While pregnant, though (especially during the later trimesters when the stomach is squished) it is difficult to intermittent fast and mothers typically concentrate on eating small meals throughout the day. Because of this the body is not able to go into autophagy, so taking activated charcoal is a great way to help clean up old junk that is in the body.
Continuing on the topic of detoxification. Another supplement I am currently taking are zeolites. Zeolites are a volcanic mineral.
They are the only substance in the world that can effectively cleanse a wide range of toxins from your body. As far as supplements go, it’s a game changer. Each chamber within zeolites honeycomb-like structure has a negative charge. This negative charge attracts positively-charged toxins like lead, mercury, or nitrosamines (1). It travels through your body trapping toxins in its “magnetized” honeycomb cage.
And since your body doesn’t store zeolites, your body just excretes it once it’s bound to a toxin. That’s why zeolites are exceptionally effective at removing built-up toxins in your body. Zeolites have specifically been shown to increase T-cell activity and increase the number of macrophages in the body—two cells essential for a healthy immune function. One study found that just 12 weeks of zeolite supplementation can significantly increase the integrity of the intestinal wall. (4
Another study found that zeolites have antiviral properties (6) due to their potential ability to absorb viral particles within the zeolite cages.
Studies even suggest zeolite can reduce pathogenic bacteria (7). What makes zeolites even better is that it doesn’t have a negative effect on the beneficial microbes in your gut.

C60 is a newer supplement on the market that increased rats lifespan by 50-90%. It works by boosting telomeres which have shortened and is capable of removing the superoxide radical with a rate constant (k(C3)) of 2 x 10(6) mol(-1) s(-1), approximately 100-fold slower than the superoxide dismutases enzyme (SOD). c60 also selectively enters oxidized CMECs (cerebral microvessel endothelial cells) rather than normal cells, to maintain CMECs integrity. Today we know for certain that telomeres play a huge factor in how long we live via study on bats. Two species seem to not age at all, the only difference between them and the others is their telomeres do not degrade as they age.

Essentially Lipo Fullerene C60 is a semi-permanently embedded carbon atom that binds in the lipid bilayers of the cells and mitochondria, where it acts as a reusable, recyclable antioxidant. There apparently is no substance that prolongs the life of mammals longer than C60 on test results. Not even the most expensive supplements such as Resveratrol, metformin, or systemic metabolic enzymes come remotely close, and neither are those supplements supported by such solid evidence as the Baati study. Pharmacokinetic studies show that dissolved C60 is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and eliminated in a few hours.

A Russian laboratory has found that hydrated C60 can protect against the buildup of beta-amyloid proteins, which are associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Another study reports C60 affects the brain’s neurotransmitter levels after it is injected into brain ventricles of mice.

C60 needs to be taken in high amounts, remember the study was done on toxicity. My fiance and I buy C60 from a very reputable company and we diffuse it in cold first pressed olive oil to take. I take 1/2 oz of it every 4 days. Out of all the new supplements that have hit the market in the last decade nothing comes close to C60s potential to boost lifespan.

Btw, if you're interested in trying out C60, let me know as we have hundreds of miron glass vials of it that we plan to sell in the near future.
