This is not the world we believe in. If you travel across the world, you will see animals being used for food, entertainment, experimentation, and exploitation. You will see some animals such as cats and dogs being treated as family members living cushy lives, while other animals such as chickens and pigs are living in tight spaces where they can barely move, sitting in their own excrement, being fed low-quality government-subsidized food, and beaten for no reason before they are eventually slaughtered as a meal for someone's stomach. We see animals being taken out of their natural habitats and kept in cages and tanks all so that people can make a dollar and others can be entertained. We see animals being used for experiments, having products being put in their eyes and injected into them causing them pain, torture, and death just so that a company can make a buck. What gives us the right to choose which animals will live and which will die? What gives us the right to choose which animals will live in our homes, get cuddles, and be treated as a member of the family while others live in squalor, are sick, beaten, and can barely walk?
I see what this world is right now and I believe in what it can be. That is the world I see and the world you see. But now it is up to us to help the entire world embrace this vision with us.
Because in the end, we're not just against the ingrained and destructive habits of the world, we're also struggling with our own doubts, fears, and cynicism.
The change we seek has always required great struggle and great sacrifice. And so this is a battle in our own hearts and minds about what kind of world we want and how hard we're willing to work for it.
So let me remind you that change will not be easy. It will take time. There will be obstacles and unsuccessful attempts and sometimes we will even fail.
But as hard as it may seem, we cannot lose hope, because there are animals all across this wonderful planet who are counting on us, who can't bear another day let alone another year living like this.
Yes, we can. Yes, we can change. Yes, VEGAN.
